Local Organizations
Elks -
The mission of the Elks National Foundation is to help Elks build stronger communities. We fulfill this pledge by investing in communities where Elks live and work. We provide tomorrow's leaders, our youth, with a healthy beginning; honor the Elks' pledge to never forget our veterans; help the state Elks associations accomplish their charitable objectives and fund projects that improve the quality of life in local Elks communities. Our local Elks Club hosts a free throw contest, hold ceremonies such as weddings, banquets, and graduation parties.
Kiwanis -
Kiwanis, through guidance and example, works to develop future generations of leaders. Every day, Kiwanians are revitalizing neighborhoods, organizing youth-sports programs, tutoring, building playgrounds, and performing countless other projects to help children and communities. In our community they sponsor a Senior League Baseball team and offer scholarships for College bound students.
VFW -
The Veterans of Foreign Wars has a rich tradition in enhancing the lives of millions through its community service programs and special projects. From providing free phone cards to our nation's active-duty military personnel to raising money for the World War II memorial, the VFW is there, "honoring the dead by helping the living." One big program the VFW does in our area is the buddy poppy program where most of the money is donated towards the welfare of the elderly in the community. The red poppy is a symbol that evokes emotions and memories from past wars.
